Delft
Little ghosts inspired by the rich blue glazed earthenware pottery that has been produced in the city of Delft in Holland since the 17th century. It is famously decorated with cobalt oxide which produces the characteristic blue colour when fired. Between 1600 and 1800, this earthenware was popular among rich families who would show off their Delft Blue collections to one another at lavish parties.
Keep a lookout when digging the earth or walking along riverbanks or shorelines, you’ll often find fragments of similarly coloured pottery shards each piece with its own story to tell.
