Ash Pan Sweep

“Sweep “ ghosts are so named as we use a brush in the making process which resembles the brush of a chimney sweep- although of course miniature by comparison.. The markings this rough bristled brush leave are fine and painterly and impart a textural quality.

Chimney sweeping was one of the more difficult, hazardous, and low-paying occupations of the Georgian and Victorian eras, and consequently has been derided in verse, ballad and pantomime.
