The Betwixt Phantom
A spirited green Phantom created for the season of potency & magic. As Summer departs and the nights become longer we find ourselves between the seasons. For the ancient Celts this was a liminal period; a boundary between this world & the other. The Celtic year was divided into two halves — light and dark and in between, rituals or ceremonies were celebrated marking solstices or equinoxes. Samhain [ pronounced SAH-win ]( Celtic: “end of summer“ ) was the division of the year between the lighter half (summer) and the darker half (winter). At Samhain the veil between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through. People wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves as harmful spirits and thus avoid harm. Bonfires and feasting played a large part in the festivities
Many of the traditions of our modern Halloween are derived from Samhain. We are releasing this Ghost for October a little earlier this year so everyone has the chance to receive it ahead of all Hallows Eve, the night of the year where interactions between humans and denizens of the otherworld are most active.
