Little Polished Black

Little York Ghosts, as the name suggests, are the smaller of our two sizes of York Ghost - they stand just 5cm tall, and are small enough to perch on top of door frames and small ledges around the home, where they are most comfortable. This is our second release of Polished Blacks, the first batch of just 12 was one of our earliest online releases last autumn. We also released a batch of Original sized Polished Black around that time.

Each Ghost a three part polishing process which bestows a glossy lustre. If it dulls through handling, they can be re-polished using a soft cloth.

This small batch is a pure polished pitch black with little hint of any sub-colours. It has a similar look and feel to jet, the gemstone that has mesmerised people for centuries.

Jet became increasingly popular in the mid nineteenth century - Queen Victoria famously wore the stone while in mourning. These Little Polished Blacks have strong presence, and an air of a Victorian keepsake about them.
